Leadership Miami : A Program of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce

Governance

Leadership Miami is a program of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. The Program Chairman for Leadership Miami oversees the program and reports back to the Chamber's Leadership Miami Committee Chairman.

A Committee headed by the Chairman of the Leadership Miami program, and approved by the Greater Miami Chamber Leadership Miami Committee Chairman, will set policies (within the Chamber's guidelines) and oversees the operating task forces of Leadership Miami (Alumni Affairs, Closing Conference, Facilitators, Fieldwork, Focus Sessions, Group Projects, Opening Conference, Silent Auction, Tri-County Leadership Council and Youth Leadership Miami).

Leadership Miami educates and trains the participants to maximize their ability and desire to become involved in the community-at-large and encourages participants to develop relationships which cross ethnic and racial lines.

Chairman
The Chairman-elect is nominated by a nominating committee and will be approved by the Chamber's Committee Chairman for Leadership Miami and the Chamber's Leadership Programs Group Chairman.

Chamber of Commerce Staff
The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce will assign a staff member who is responsible for coordinating all activities of Leadership Miami.

Operating Committees
The Leadership Miami Executive Task Force is organized into the following operating task forces:

  • Alumni Affairs
    Provides networking opportunities and development of leadership through educational/social programs. Organizes all Leadership Miami alumni social events.

  • Closing Conference
    Plans the final one day closing conference.

  • Group Project
    Responsible for design project RFP and selecting/approving team projects and works with facilitators to ensure project completion.

  • Facilitators
    Facilitates conference and follow-up sessions. Responsible for keeping the class, spirit and enthusiasm, as well as ensuring group participation in the class and project.

  • Fieldwork
    Plans fieldwork assignments to ensure community awareness by participants between sessions.

  • Focus Sessions
    Plans and implements the follow-up sessions that span the period between the opening conference and closing conference.

  • Opening Conference
    Assists in planning and implementation of the two-day opening conference which takes place each fall.

  • Silent Auction for Opening Conference
    Responsible for soliciting donations for the Silent Auction at Opening Conference.

  • Tri-County Leadership Council
    Responsible for planning and implantation of the Regional Leadership Conference, regional session and assisting with other regional events as needed

  • Youth Leadership Miami
    Designs, plans and implements all aspects of this new program. An excellent opportunity to work with young people who are interested in learning more about and participating in the community in which they live.
